This past week our class made Leprechaun traps at home. Our traps were so creative and very cool! We invited the Kindergarten to visit our classroom and see our hard work. Here are a few pictures of Mr. Jerkatis and Ms. Serio's class checking out our Leprechaun Traps!!!

Kites
Today learned about kites! Mrs. Robbins and Mrs. Christie taught us the history of kites and brought a really awesome art project in for us to make! We made our own kites out of real rice paper. If you would like to see our masterpieces they will be on display in the lobby of our school during the fun fair this weekend! Enjoy!!!!
Let's add a tail!
Art is fun!

A message from Marlee
Marlee has some favorite websites! Click on the following links and you will see what her favorite places to visit online are!
Dear Family and Friends, Welcome to my new friend....my blog. I will check and update this page daily. I will now be posting important messages and information about our classroom. Please post ideas, messages, and other important information that will be helpful to me as well. This will be a quick and easy way to communicate. The success of our children is due in part to the communication and strong link between home and school.
P.S. Please do not post any personal questions about your children or other children. This is a public site. I can be reached by phone or e-mail for questions concerning your individual child.
I am your first grade teacher. This is my second year teaching at Mann. Before I came to this school I taught preschool for five years! I also ran my own summer camp for five years! I hope we will have a lot of fun learning and growing together this year!!!!
Please check your child’s mail folder daily. I send home many notes and stoplight forms daily.
I do need each child’s stoplight form on Monday morning from the previous week. These will be in your child’s portfolio in order show progress throughout the year.
If you have not had a chance to yet, please send along a 3 ring binder so that I may organize a portfolio for each student.
The art teachers have asked that I remind each child to bring an art smock to art class each Tuesday. If your child does not have one yet, please send an old shirt along that can remain in their locker and used for art.
Also, send along clean gym shoes that can remain in your child’s locker and used only for P.E. class.
Continue to work on and send back the September Checklist that came home with the last newsletter.
Please continue to work on the weekly spelling words. The children will take a practice “test” on Wednesdays and then a Final “test” on Fridays. I will be keeping the Friday “tests” for portfolios.
It is very hot and humid in our classroom. I encourage children to take as many drinks from our water fountains as possible, we have two in the room. Please make sure your children drink plenty of water before and after school. I would just like to prevent any possibilities of dehydration.
A quick reminder, please leave all toys, stuffed animals and Webkinz or anything else of value or importance at home. The lockers do not have locks and the children tend to leave their locker doors open.
